I love this! "One of our hypotheses at Polis Labs is that human flourishing comes not from perfecting top-down control, but from building bottom-up trust." As I study human development, I find trust to be foundational.
Also reciprocity, relationship, consent, care as human to human, and the ability to dance between individual sovereignty and our social need for one another without violating anyone.
Your writing sparks so many insights I have collected over the years. I play with ideas, especially around the question of how to organize society without any violation of the individual. I think of the book, The Voluntary City, which has so many historical examples. I think of parenting, homeschooling, and governing my seven children. I experimented and learned so many lessons in that direct experience. As I continue my quest for answers, I realize how tired I get when I listen to blah, blah, blah in lectures and webinars. (informational learning)
Playing in the sandbox really is where the transformational learning occurs, no matter how old we are! Thanks for doing what you do.
Thanks so much for your kind words, Kris. We're so happy to have folks like you along for the journey. I'm glad you bring up homeschooling and parenting, as we see those as major reasons why families and those contemplating future family formation might be attracted to the network/parallel society movement - this is definitely a research area we intend to explore further!
